The annual community Christmas carols are on at Victoria Park on Saturday December 8, with organisers hoping that more families will be able to make the most of the evening without the pressure of getting children up for school in the morning.
The change to Saturday night has come about after feedback from the community from previous years, the carols are also a week later than usual.

“We are very excited how this year is coming together, we have a fantastic and enthusiastic team putting all the final finishing touches together,” committee chair Jenelle Toole said.
“The Forbes Town Band are busy practicing for an awesome night of entertainment.”
Families are encouraged to come along to Victoria Park on the evening, with entertainment by the Town Band from 6.30pm and the Forbes and District Lions firing up the barbecue.
In an exciting development, Cold Rock Ice Cream and the Forbes High School coffee cart will also be there on the evening.
There should be something for everyone.
“Santa Claus has been in contact and he is fitting our event into his very busy schedule,” Mrs Toole said.
For a gold coin donation to the Town Band, children can tell Santa what they want for Christmas.
There won’t be a professional photographer, families are encouraged to bring their cameras or phones and take their own photos between 6.30 and 8pm.
The formal carols and singing starts as the sun goes down at 8pm.
Special guests leading this year’s carols include James and Ally McCleary; Emily Pavey, Leonie Burton, and Jo Stephenson; James Whalan and Hannah Nixon.
Glow candles and light-up fairy headbands will be available for sale on the night.

It should be a beautiful night in Victoria Park, which is now lit up for the festive season.
As it is an outdoor event, guests are encouraged to bring your own chair or blanket to sit on.
Last year’s carols were moved indoors to the Town Hall due to heavy rain that weekend and Town Hall is once again the wet weather venue.
