The club celebrate’s its 80th anniversary with the opening of its new club house and a two day carnival on Saturday and Sunday, November 24 and 25.
Club member Kay Playforth said government dignitaries would be attending for the opening of the club house on Sunday.
They will be joined by representatives from sponsors Evolution Mining and NorthParkes mine.
Forbes mayor Phyllis Miller will be joined by member for Orange Phil Donato.
More than $5000 in cash, medals and trophies have lured more than 240 swimmers from 23 different clubs to the two day carnival which sees accommodation in Forbes heavily booked.
Swimmers from the ACT, Sydney, Wollongong and throughout the central west will take on a team of around 40 swimmers from Forbes and surrounds during two days of swimming.
One of the major highlights planned for the carnival celebration is the running of the open men’s and ladies $600 Dash for Cash and the 14 years and under boys and girls $300 Dash for Cash.
Ms Playforth said heats of the Dash would take place on Saturday with the six fastest swimmers progressing to the finals which will be decided before and after lunch on Sunday.
The winners of the Open dash will receive $330 with $150 for second and $60 for third, with the remaining three swimmers receiving $20 each for qualifying.
The top six junior male and female swimmers will race for a first prize purse of $165, $75 for second and $30 for third. The remaining three swimmers receive $10 each as finalists.
That’s a total $1,800 in prize money up for grabs just in the Dash for Cash.
Swimmers in the first event on Saturday will be facing the starter at 1.45pm for a 1500 metre freestyle event.
On Sunday swimming actions begins at 8.45am after 8am warm ups.
