About 3.30am on Wednesday, September 13, a male described as about 180cm tall and of solid build broke into a Farnell Street house and seriously assaulted a 72-year-old man.
After being woken by the noise of his front door being kicked in, the victim was confronted by the offender who struck him multiple times.
“The elderly man sustained numerous wounds to the head and injuries to his upper body,” police said in a media release issued Tuesday (December 11, 2018).
“As a result of the assault he suffers from ongoing health issues.”
Police are looking to identify the male offender who at the time of the incident was wearing a black hooded jumper with a white emblem on the front and back, black track suit pants and sneakers.
“The unprovoked attack on the elderly male was gutless and cowardly with an iron bar used,” police said.
“Investigators are seeking to establish the origin of a metal bar and drill that was located at the scene and used in the attack.”
Members of the public are asked to contact Parkes police on 6862 999 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 with any information.
