Lex Crosby has taken on the presidency from Braden Sullivan, who has been there for the last four years and has stepped back due to family commitments.
The Forbes club is lucky to have Lex, who has served as president of Eugowra Harness Racing Club and at a Western Districts level.
Emma Gaffney is secretary, and Jocelyn Stewart treasurer.
With focus now on the 2019 season, the depth of the Forbes meeting has been highlighted at the Interdominion in Melbourne.
Elmer’s Image for Amanda Turnbull took out the Consolation Final and what a rapid rise it was for this pacer.
It only had its first start for Turnbull at the Forbes Anzac meeting this year, when it won its heat and then put up a sensational performance to win the Forbes Services Club final.
Also qualifying for the consolation final for Turnbull was Joe’s Star of Mia who broke the local track record at the Carnival of Cups meeting.
Local harness racing trainers have enjoyed success on the track in the last several months, with Terry Hush winning with Digger Shed at Young and in Parkes; Adam Bellach, Carla’s Angel, at Young and Dubbo; Jason Gaffney, Borderman, at Parkes and On That Day at Dubbo.
Rod and Debbie Wenning’s Ominous Warning also had an excellent season.
After winning six in a row in the lead-up to the Canola Cup final, where he was put out of play after an early check, he then won his next four starts at Bathurst and Menangle.
Amongst those winnings was a $10,000 Country Series final.

Ominous Warning then ran a very close second in the Star Trek final at Bathurst, and another close second at Menangle.
He won a heat and semi-final of the Soldiers Saddle at Bathurst, only to miss the final.
Other locals racing this year have included Terry and Matthew Robb and Gary Eyre.
While their horses haven’t been successful they have been knocking on the door and are to be watched in future.
The local driving ranks have taken a bit of a hit with Murray Sullivan Junior taking a break from the industry and his enormous talent will be sorely missed.
This has forced the local trainers to search elsewhere for drivers, they have been fortunate enough to acquire the services of Amanda Turnbull, Matt Rue, John O’Shea and Amy Rees.
Most of the locals will now target the Parkes Elvis carnival.
The Forbes Diggers Harness Racing Club will be gearing up for its 2019 meetings, the traditional Anzac Day meeting and the Carnival of Cups which is this year scheduled for Sunday May 5.
