A NSW man described by police as a "high-risk domestic violence offender" is behind bars after being charged with more than 50 offences including choking, rape and kidnapping involving four women.

Aron Michael Goodrem, 28, was charged at Gosford on Monday with 54 domestic violence-related offences, including six counts of choking, eight counts of rape, three counts of kidnapping and one count of depriving someone of their liberty, among other charges.
Police claim he's a "high-risk domestic violence offender" with the alleged attacks occurring in Sydney's west and the state's Central West between 2009 - when Goodrem would have been 19 - and 2017.
Court documents show Goodrem is charged with kidnapping or detaining victims in Penrith, St Marys, Forbes and Parkes.
He is also facing a dangerous driving charge after his car allegedly hit a woman causing her grievous bodily harm, police say.
Detectives have been investigating since June this year following reports four women had been sexually assaulted and held against their will over a period of time by a man known to them.
Goodrem did not apply for bail and it was formally refused at Central Local Court on Tuesday.
He is due to appear at the same court on January 22.
