Veteran golfers from Forbes and Parkes played their final 12 hole round of weekly golf on Thursday, December 20 at Parkes which combined with their annual Christmas party and trophies for competitions played over the last 12 months.

In the yearly presentations as expected Forbes players dominated with Alf Davies best in the combined stableford competition with 675 points winning a ham from Parkes' John Pearce next best on 669 points.
Geoff Drane took home the ham as the points-score winner with 111 from Parkes' Dale Stait best of the rest on 107 points.
Parkes players did pick up a ham with Graham Cooke best in attendance playing 32 rounds out of the 34 contested.
In the Mick Miller shield Forbes ran out impressive winners scoring 4962 points to Parkes' 4742.
Prior to dinner, drinks and yearly presentations golfers contested 12 holes where Parkes players excelled on their home course taking the top two placings with Csaba Belley best on 42 points from Tony Hendry on 38 points.
Not to be outdone Forbes' Lynnie Roberts picked up a small ham with his small score to claim the encouragement award.
Nearest the pins, fourth A grade Bob Borger (Forbes), B grade Gordon Christie (Parkes), 11th A grade Ian Hendry (Parkes), B grade Michael Lynch (Parkes).
Twin Towns 12 hole golf today (January 3) in Parkes with noms from 9.30am for a 10am shot gun start. Today week (January 10) play over 12 holes in Forbes before the first of the 18 hole competitions in Parkes on January 17.
Tuesday golfers were out in force for their final 12 holes for 2018 on December 18 with 25 players where Peter Scholfield scored 33 points which included ten points on the final three holes to be best by one point from Garry Pymont, Barry Shine and Barry Parker.
Tuesday golfers will return to the course on Tuesday January 8 with ball toss at 9am for playing partners.

The beautiful game of bowling continues in the new year. On Wednesday mornings they have Ladies bowls, newcomers are very welcome. Wednesday at 1pm, every Wednesday we have Men's Learners and Legends bowls. So if you are a learner or would like to give it a go call 6852 1499.
Croquet
Results from Saturday, December 22
This week saw us play the last games of the year as we go into Christmas and the New Year. Tuesday’s Golf Croquet had some close games.
The winners of three games were Robin Pols, Jill Rubie and Libby Smart.
Our Christmas dinner was held at the Vandenberg Hotel. A lovely meal was provided before the presentations of trophies to our winners for the year 2018.
The Golf Croquet winner of the most games won during the year for men was Bruce Field.
The Aussie Croquet winner of the most games won during the year for men was John Cole.
The Golf Croquet winner of the most games won during the year for ladies was Joan Littlejohn.
The Aussie Croquet winner of the most games won during the year for ladies was also Joan Littlejohn. Congratulations to all of the winners.
An ovation was given for our hard working President/Treasurer Elvy Quirk who has given our club the best financial year on record and the most members since the club was formed by our late president Keith Croker.
Elvy thanked all of those members with roles who helped the club to function so well over the years.
There will be a short break over Christmas and New Year with game resuming on Tuesday,January 8, 2019 at 8:30am. We look forward to welcoming new members in 2019.
Our last game of the year on Saturday, December 22 had only 24 participants due to several members going on holidays early. There were only two winners of their three games namely John Cole and Barry White.

School Holiday Fun
Pool Inflatable: Held on January 4, 7, 25 and 29. At Forbes town pool from 12noon to 4pm. Cost: $4.00 pool entry. *Normal pool rules apply.
Fishing Day: Held on Friday, January 11 with three x 20 minute sessions on casting, knot tying, and catch and release. Plus a one hour fishing session. Followed by a BBQ lunch. It will be held at Grinsted Oval from 10am to 12noon. RSVP by January 9 to sarah.williams@forbes.nsw.gov.au
Gliding: The 2019 Forbes Flatlands Hang Gliding Championships are on again. The final day of competition will be Saturday, January 5, with the Presentation to follow the final flights.
