2019 certainly kicked off with a hot start, please take care in this heat and make sure you keep hydrated and stay indoors during the warmest part of the day.
I am really looking forward to the Elvis Festival this week and in particular the Forbes Elvis Street Breakfast.
There will be free live entertainment, a carnival atmosphere and food vans during the morning in Templar and Rankin Streets.
This year we are once again a transport partner for the Festival, sponsoring Shuttle buses for the Parkes team.
We are very proud to be a part of this amazing event for the region. For more information on times and bus stop locations see www.parkeselvisfestival.com.au
You can also get a copy of the timetable from the Visitor Information Centre or from the front counter of Council.
Over the Christmas break there have been so many new visitors to Forbes.
This is confirmation that we need to improve the amenities in our wonderful town, as it is proving to be a great tourist attraction.
Both the Lake and the Aquatic Centre are wonderful assets for our town and the tourists love to enjoy these facilities.
For those who have not been into Target of late, I recommend you do.
This business has really stepped up and is looking amazing.
As I have always said, if we don’t patronise our local shops we will lose them.
Our wonderful town has everything you want, there is no need to go out of town.
Enjoy your week.
God Bless.
Your Mayor Phyllis Miller
