Hundreds of painted rocks have been hidden in our local parks and playgrounds, and a social media community has sprung up sharing where to go looking for them.
Tabitha Blake created the Forbes Rocks 2871 Facebook page and – with her mum and kids – has painted and hidden thousands of rocks.
Her own children, aged 11, nine and six, love it. Judging by the rapid growth of the Facebook group, so do hundreds of other local kids.
The idea is to find the rocks, play with and enjoy them, then re-hide them in the same park before you go home.
The Blakes hide the rocks on or near play equipment and seating, not in the grass where they might get struck by a mower.
If more families would like to come on board painting and hiding rocks, that would be great.
Find the group under Forbes Rocks 2871 on Facebook.
There are suggestions for painting and lacquering the rocks so they are weather-proof there.
