A car stolen from a residence in Orange has been found destroyed by fire about 120 kilometres away in Forbes.

The car was stolen from a property in Hill Street between 8pm and 7am on Saturday night, January 19.
According to police the Ford Focus was stolen after a house on Hill Street i Orange was broken into and a handbag and a set of car keys were stolen.
Police found the stolen car completely destroyed by fire close to 8am on Sunday at South Lead Road Forbes.

The theft is one of a series of car thefts throughout the central west so far this year.
Police in Orange and Cowra have been called to a number of burnt out vehicles stolen from both those locations in the past week.
Police say very few vehicle thefts are the result of break and enters, rather most occur because people leave cars and garages unlocked.
