Community halls have played a rich part in the history of country communities for generations, but some of them need work to continue to provide a space for the community to gather in years to come.

So Council is asking rural residents to help them make long-term plans to look after the halls.
From Ootha to Waroo, Corinella to Calarie, in Bedgerbaong, Garema and Wirrinya, Council wants rural residents to have their say on what their community hall needs.
They’re running a barbecue breakfast at the Wirrinya Shed from 7.30am Tuesday February 5 and an evening at Garema Hall from 6.30pm February 15.
“The work underway across these communities is a great credit to the volunteers and community members concerned and a great example for other rural communities,” a media release issued by Council says.
“The plan will focus on particular on upgrading kitchens, amenities and disability access in order to best support the wide and diverse range of activities undertaken at these community facilities.
“The Community Hall has always been the place for people to gather, be it for a fundraiser or a celebration, it is an essential part of country life.
“The revitalisation of these facilities will also attract new social and sporting events to the Shire as well as helping build community resilience during times of natural disaster such as flood or fire.”
