Tonight’s black-tie event is on at the Forbes Services Memorial Club and aims to encourage and acknowledge the achievements of local businesses and individuals.
Forbes Services Memorial Club general manager David Fitzgerald said the Services Club contributed $3000 to help support the business awards to encourage the local business community.
“It encourages and shows support for our local businesses and all they are doing in our community,” he said.
The theme of the gala dinner is a Midsummer Night’s Dream, after the Shakespearean comedy of the same name.
Categories to be announced tonight are:
Excellence in Small Business, Employee of the Year, Young Entrepreneur, Start Up Superstar, Excellence in Business (20 or more Employees), Excellence in Social Enterprise, Excellence in Innovation, Employer of Choice, Apprentice or Trainee of the Year.
From the category winners, this year’s Business of the Year will be chosen.
People’s choice awards, as voted by the community, will also be presented to the tradie of the year and most popular business.
This year, local social media campaigner Sam Johnston, who was behind the Thank a Farmer For Your Next Meal, will be the guest speaker.
He and the rest of the Thank a Farmer For Your Next Meal team are encouraging everyone to phone a farmer on February 11 to see how everyone is going.
