WEDNESDAY MORNINGS
Contributed
Last Wednesday week 18 men played morning bowls while another eight members played their minor fours championship game.
All up a creditable 26 mid-week bowlers took to the green and you are invited to play next week.
It could be your first outing or a time to brush up on your current game.
Ron Thurlow smiled with his form after leading for Cliff Nelson to win the winning card draw accounting for Fred Vogelsang and Bob Grant 19-9.
After 12 ends it was all but over with Ron and Cliff on top 13-6 coasting over the last six ends.
The closest game was a triples match where Denny Byrnes, Barry White and skip Trevor Currey won 14-12 over Geoff Coles, Peter Greenhalgh and John Kennedy 14-12.
The semi-hot Curries did not jump well to trail 8-10 after eight then continue to be behind 11-12 after 12 ends but finished strong with three over the last two ends in a game which lasted 14 ends.
Bill Looney was another smiling with some polished deliveries while telling of two well sought-after drops of rain on his Bogan Gate spread in the days leading up to bowls.
Bill and Jim Molloy looked down and out trailing 2-9 after five ends only to dominate from there especially the four ends scoring 11 shots.
Barry Wright and Alf Davies had a good game against Bill O'Connell and Laurie Crouch winning 25-18.
Another game won at the end with the game in the balance at 18 all after 16 ends before Barry and Alf added seven on the last four ends in a game over 20 ends.
In the fours game Geoff Williams skipped for John Baass, Barry Shine and Don Craft to win over skip Peter Mackay, Rob Priest, John Gorton and Ray Dunstan 19-12.
Another game won in the final few ends. In-club raffle winners after play were Denny Byrnes and John Kennedy.
