Jackson will be assisting Council’s Technical Department with some of the projects being completed this year including the Homemaker’s Centre Stage 2 and Meagher Lane upgrade works.
This is a great opportunity for the local Forbes boy who has been very active in the community, including representing young people at the Community Strategic Plan meetings, Council said in a statement to media.
Jackson, who was dux at Red Bend Catholic College in 2018, chose Engineering as his career path. He has been selected for Council's cadetship program, which gives him hands-on experience while he studies.
“I am excited with this opportunity for Jackson to join Forbes Shire Council and congratulate him on his successful appointment in the position of Cadet Civil Engineer," Council's Director of Engineering John Zannes said.
"Jackson has shown great aptitude for engineering with strong results in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines, leadership, and community contributions.
“Jackson will have the opportunity to develop his knowledge and practical skills in civil engineering through his cadetship enabling him to contribute to the building of the community infrastructure and essential services for our community well into the future.”
