Attending the West Wyalong NHTF meeting were Oliver Holm the General Manager and Sarah Nattey the Director of South East Infrastructure Investment Infrastructure Investment Division, Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities and Malinda Parkinson Director PwC Australia.
Oliver, Sarah and Malinda provided the taskforce meeting in West Wyalong with an overview and timeline.
Whilst in West Wyalong Oliver, Sarah and Malinda took the opportunity to visit the flood affected section of the Newell Highway between West Wyalong and Forbes.
Alistair Lunn (Western Regional Director of the RMS) provided an update on the Newell Highway Program Alliance that will develop, design and construct a program of at least 30 additional overtaking lanes along the length of the Newell Highway from Tocumwal in the south to Goondiwindi in the north.
This will potentially provide around 25 minutes of travel time savings, a Taskforce press release said.
Jeff Stien the Chairman of the Newell Highway Promotions Committee (NHPC) provided an update on the publication of a new Newell Highway brochure which should be released towards the end of February.
Jeff also mentioned that discussions had commenced with Destination NSW to include the Newell Highway in Destination NSW Drives and Road trips.
