The Hutcheon and Pearce Forbes Autumn Horse Show is solely for horse entries, with riders welcome to compete from across NSW.
The competition kicks off at 9am in all four rings of the Showgrounds on Sunday March 31.
In a media release, the Forbes P. A. and H. Association's Lucy Pearce said they are thrilled to bring a new kind of competition to Forbes - Interschools classes.
These are ring events classes for school age riders who are welcome to ride as representatives of their school.
"In our inaugural event, we are delighted to have Red Bend Catholic College on board as the ring sponsor, supporting our show," Mrs Pearce said.
Red Bend will also be helping out with three students and a teacher volunteering their time to assist with the smooth running of the show. The volunteers will be helping the show run smoothly as ring stewards and horse office assistants.
Other events worth watching will be the Fancy Dress class in Ring 4 - always a cute demonstration of the combined imaginations of parents and riders.
Mrs Pearce said they have been very fortunate to have a number of generous sponsors on board for their first Autumn Show.
Hutcheon and Pearce are participating as the naming rights sponsors, and Pohnie Equestrian, Equine Pure Pellets and CMOC - NorthParkes Mines have helped to sponsor the other three rings.
These sponsors have helped fund the gorgeous ribbon rosettes and floral garlands being awarded in the rings.
The total prize pool of sponsorship is just under $5000 worth - made up of trophy rugs, garlands, rosettes, vouchers and prizes.
The Champion and Reserve Champion winners will all go home with a bag of carrots each, supplied by Woolworths Forbes.
The Forbes Men's Shed will be catering on the day, and there will be a coffee van present supplying everyone's favourite source of caffeine, next to the horse office.
Entry is free for spectators, with the general public welcome to come along to watch the competition.
"We are anticipating some highly competitive horses and ponies in the hacking rings, with everyone looking for an outing before they compete at the Royal Shows over Easter."
