Victoria Park, bounded as it is by our council, court, hotel and churches, has long been a hub of local life.
That will all come into focus on May 5 when Rob Willis hosts "Perambulating in the Park".
As part of Forbes Heritage 2019, Mr Willis will share stories and songs from Forbes' history on a walk through the park.
He's got a few questions on his agenda for the morning. Some may ignite fond memories, others will have you wondering.
Who scaled the flagpole on the Town Hall to put the rope in?
What prominent monument in the Park could have been a trough for dogs and horses?
What has a world famous tightrope walker got to do with Victoria Square?
Local brass quartet The Dotty Quavers will help bring it all to life.
The morning meander with the well-known oral historian is a free event, but you do need to RSVP to Forbes Shire Council as numbers are limited.
Phone them on 6850 2300 or email community@forbes.nsw.gov.au
The event follows highly successful Forbes Heritage events from 2016 and 2017 looking at the laneways of Forbes and its cemetery.
Another highly anticipated event of Forbes Heritage 2019 is the unveiling of the final panels in the Discovering our Doctors series.
Again the event, on May 9, is free but requires RSVP to Forbes Shire Council.
