The annual distance bike ride, run by Forbes Cycling Club, will start from 7:30am on Sunday, May 19.
Catering for all categories from the fun to serious road riders, there are two events on offer; the 120km ride and the 72km ride. This offers a unique opportunity of flat varying distance terrain within the picturesque autumn landscape of Forbes region and surrounds.
Both rides start and finish from the Forbes Aquatic Centre. The riders will be heading out on the Bogan Gate and Yarrabandai Roads and come back to town on the Bedgerabong Road.
Marco Carelli, from the Forbes Cycling Club, said they are looking forward to a good day of cycling with good weather predicted for the day.
The Bureau of Meteorology predicts Sunday's weather will be mostly sunny with a top of 23 degrees.
Snacks and drinks will be provided before the ride start along with presentation of prizes for places in each of the two events at the end of the ride.
Members of Can Assist will be offering coffee and a barbecue on the day.
Sign in and registration on the day begins at 7:30am. The longer 120km ride will begin at 8:45am, while the 72km ride will begin at 10:30am.
Registration costs $60 for the 72km and $70 for the 120km. There's an extra $12 charge for non-Cycling Australia licence holders to cover insurance for the ride.
Mr Carelli said cyclist can sign up to ride on the day and the event has eftpos facilities available.
It is noted to bring your Cycling Australia license with you, if you have one, to show those at sign on.
Mr Carelli said this year they will see more cyclists hitting the roads than last year's event with more than 50 signed up as early as Thursday afternoon.
Cyclists are expected to travel from as far as Bathurst, Lake Cargelligo, Dubbo, Orange and Cootamundra.
Mr Carelli said they have several competitive riders attending this year from around the region including Jennifer Short, who claimed line honours in the 120km ride last year.
Though the event attracts avid cyclists from around the region, Mr Carelli said they hope more people from Forbes can take part in the cycling event.
The Forbes Flat Land Cyclo Sportif is not for profit and proceeds raised from the event will go to a community group.
Mr Carelli said their goal is to help raise more money for local community groups.
Last year's event raised $1000 and was donated to Forbes Can Assist.
