The win also resulted in the scratch handicap young talent securing a spot in the end of year NSW Open.

"It's great to win, and (to secure) a place in the Open," Wil said after play.

The young visitor was one of the first to tee off on the day, and waited some four hours for the revealing of the final result.

"I played here last year and I feel this year the course is even better now, it's a credit to the course curator and his staff," he said.

"These greens are as good as any I have played, really great.

"The hospitality shown by everyone is just as great. I'll be back next year for sure," he added.

Starting from the 10th tee, Wil's day didn't appear to be set for success after bogies on the first two holes before four birdies were recorded, at the 17th and 18th holes to finish the first nine holes square with the card.

Further birdies came at the 2nd and 7th holes for two under par 70.

Runner-up was his fellow state junior representative, also from Penrith, Blade Gadd with one under par 71.

With the par five 7th hole playing as the third last hole it proved the difference at the end.

While Arnold posted a birdie four Gadd finished with a double bogey seven after his first dive finished out of bounds.

He too was full of praise for the Forbes course indicating he will be back to play further tournaments if possible.

Best of the Forbes players as expected were Steve and John Betland with par 72.

In B grade best were Forbes players Paul Pymont and Ash Tucker with 86 while in C grade Frank Donohoe and Geoff Betland led the with way with 100.

One hundred and fifty seven golfers headed out onto the Forbes course on Sunday.

Just under 100 played the four-ball on Saturday and it was taken out by local players, Peter Dawson and John Betland, in scratch with six under par.

In handicap Graham Newport and Ralph Baker were best with 47 points.
