National Volunteer Week was celebrated last week, in which thousands of events were held across the country to say thank you to the millions of Australians who volunteer. With a focus on volunteers, the Advocate spoke with some of our local volunteers from Neighbourhood Central.

Neighbourhood Central is a not-for-profit community organisation which provides a variety of community support services including community transport and social support.
As part of their social support program, Neighbourhood Central host a weekly craft group and monthly morning tea.
The community transport arm of Neighbourhood Central has been operating in Forbes for almost seven years and has volunteer drivers take and accompany people to visit their specialists.
Volunteer, Bill Dolle, said he became a driver for Neighbourhood Central to have the chance to get out for a day and meet various community members.
Volunteer Ian Gilchrist said he volunteers because it helps the community and that the services Neighbourhood Central offers will hopefully remain available into the future.
"It is an amazing feeling when someone says thank you for today."
Forbes Neighbourhood Central's Kelly De Grande said their volunteers are amazing and they wouldn't be around without them.
