Those were some of the questions Forbes' smallest scientists answered on Thursday, at the first Forbes Science Discovery Day for under fives.
Coordinator Candice Iyer said there was a great response to the event, the Youth and Community Centre abuzz with the happy sounds of young children exploring and experimenting.
There were magnets and magnifying glasses, fizzing volcanos and tissue paper snakes dancing under the power of static electricity - and the kids were loving it.
The day was organised by a small committee to highlight the importance of science and offer a fun and creative way to inspire learning in children of all ages.
It is a taste of what families can expect from the Little Bang Discovery Club, a four-week science program for three to five-year-olds that's going to run locally a little later this year.
Two courses are planned, starting at Forbes Town Library on Wednesday July 31 (phone 6852 1463 as numbers are limited and bookings are essential), and Forbes North SaCC on Thursday October 31 (phone 68522187).
Little Bang Discovery Club is free, supported by Forbes Schools as Community Centres and Forbes Town Library.
