Two things that communities across regional NSW have in common is the ability to come up with a good idea and the ability to to entertain a crowd. From the Canowindra Balloon Festival and Lithgow's Ironfest to the Parkes Elvis Festival and Grenfell Guinea Pig Races, people young and old love to get involved in their local community events. The latest offering, set to be held across three shires, is sure to set tongues wagging and mullets blowing because it is time for the inaugural Australia's Biggest Bogan Festival (ABBF).

ABBF will be held on Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13, and provides the perfect opportunity to crack a tinny, throw on some flip flops and don your best flanno in the name of bogan pride, while also helping to raise funds for charity. Currajong Disability Services Communications and Marketing Manager, Dane Millerd, said the initiative will assist Currajong immensely. "It really is a regional festival and hopefully will bring many people to the region".
In its quest to find the ultimate bogan, the festival will be hosting a huge number of events set to take place in Bogan Gate, Parkes, Forbes and Condobolin. Bogan Gate normally boasts a population of just 307 people but has been busily preparing for the influx of visitors. ABBF co-organiser, Tara Shaw said a number of working bees had been held to be ready for the festival and the support they have received has been greatly appreciated. "From volunteers to sponsors to ticket sales, it has been fantastic to see so much support," she said. "There aren't many festivals we've found that benefit so many from across the region".
