Why? That day a triples game is scheduled in aid of Can-Assist from 10am for a very low entry fee of only $45 a team.
Prior to bowls a sausage sizzle will operate, lunch is included in the fee while the usual auction will take place along with a raffle for a $1000 voucher to Bernardi Marketplace first and $500 fuel voucher from Shell second.
Remember the date, Sunday September 22. More as the charity day gets closer.
Results from last week
Card draw winners were Ron Thurlow and Daniel Tisdell with a 17-11 win over Denny Byrnes and Cliff Nelson played over 18 ends.
Ron and Daniel jumped out like a rabbit to lead 13-2 after nine ends cruising home.
Bill O'Connell played with his grandson Joe Butter from Alice Springs to upset Bill Looney and Scott McKellar in the match of the round, 18-17 over 20 ends.
Half time score 10-7 in favour of Joe and gentleman Bill.
Another one point result saw Deanna Williams who filled in magnificently to partner Christian West in winning 19-18 over Barry Wright and Alf Davies over 18 ends.
The winners were coasting to lead 19-13 with two ends to play before five were added by Barry and Alf to almost snatch victory.
Tony Bratton appears to no longer be the 'driver' of bowls in playing a new-found 'draw' style with considerable success.
However, he and Geoff Coles just failed going down to Barry Shine and Laurie Crouch 21-17 over 20 ends.
At oranges it was 11-4 to Barry and Laurie prior to Geoff and Tony picking up a couple of fours to bridge the gap to 18-17 with one end to play.
It was slightly easier for Kerry Dunstan and Lyell Strudwick with a 21-16 win over Jim Moloy and Don Craft over 22 ends.
Never in doubt leading 13-7 after 11.
Peter Mackay may be second best in A grade singles and last Wednesday showed why as he and Fred Vogelsang won 20-11 over Peter Greenhalgh and Geoff Williams back on deck after weeks travelling the world.
After 10 ends it was 13-9 to Peter and Fred.
In the final game John Gorton and Grant Lambert won 24-13 over 18 ends leading 12-7 at half time against Rob Priest and 'Gunna' Williams.
Last week 28 played where two raffles were conducted with the lucky winners Scott McKellar and Peter Greenhalgh.
