Still on Thursday's play local members are asked to bring a plate for morning tea prior to the shot gun start at 10am after noms taken from 9am. Even during these winter months our course is in quite good condition especially the greens, lightening fast but true in line so you can expect some interesting scores.
Last Thursday the 'twin towns' 12 hole competition was in Parkes with 27 playing, apparently a few pulled up a bit sore after the State of Origin and failed to show.
With Parkes represented by 20 players they dominated with Richard Hamilton scoring best with 26 points from Chris Goodie one in arrears. Forbes did take the encouragement award with John Whatmore picking up the 'burner' ball.
Ball sweep to 20 points with our only collect being Geoff Drane. We had better luck with nearest the pins. 4th A grade Garry Collits (F), B grade Gordon Christie (P), 11th A Barry Parker (F), B Rod Luyt (P). Miller Shield, Parkes 138, Forbes 109.
As pointed out earlier Forbes host the Lachlan Valley vets on Thursday for 18 holes. The cold and fog saw a reduced number for Tuesday's 12 holes last week with 14 players, the best being Dennis Culley on 31 points from Dave Rhodes one point back.
All golfers, young and old, female or male, are invited to Tuesday's 12 holes with assemble at 9am for the 9.30am shot gun start. For all information on golf in Forbes phone the Pro Shop on 6851 1554.
