Voting opened this week and closes on August 15 with successful projects announced in September.
Six projects in Forbes and one in Eugowra are seeking community support to gain a slice of the funding.
The Forbes projects are for more lighting around Lake Forbes ($200,000), a facelift for the Forbes Town Band Hall ($46,467), refurbishment of the Forbes BMX track ($40,000), a Lachlan House with No Steps Community Hub ($195,173), Calarie Hall and Recreation Ground upgrade ($98,394) and relocation of the Forbes Mens Shed ($200,000).
In Eugowra, the Eugowra Rugby League is seeking $150,000 for lighting at the home of the Golden Eagles.
The Forbes projects are among 41 in the Orange electorate vying for funding.
"This really is grassroots democracy in action, a program driven by the community with the aim of delivering for that community," Mr Perrottet said.
Grants of between $20,000 and $200,000 will be awarded once voting is complete with a maximum of $260,000 to be spent in the Orange electorate of which Forbes is a part.
To vote Forbes residents must be 16 years of age and can only back a project in the Orange electorate.
Voting is conducted online through a Service NSW account or in person at your nearest Services NSW Centre.
To vote, you'll need:
- a MyServiceNSW Account(external link) - if you do not have an account, sign up on the Service NSW website(external link), call 13 77 88 or visit a Service NSW centre(external link)
- your Medicare card to verify your name and age
- your NSW residential address to identify your electorate
- You'll need to pick between three and five projects in your electorate, arrange them in order of your preference, then submit your vote. Each person can vote only once.

Lachlan House with No Steps community hub - Project sponsor House with No Steps. The establishment of the Community Hub will allow people with disabilities to gain greater independence, be actively involved in social, community and recreational activities. Cost $193,173.
New Lighting for Eugowra Oval - Project sponsor Eugowra Rugby League Football Club. Providing an upgrade of lighting at the local sporting oval. Cost $150,000.
Lighting up Lake Forbes - Project sponsor Forbes Shire Council. To install solar lighting around the Lake Forbes walking track to improve safety and accessibility for all members of the community. Cost $200,000.
A facelift for Forbes Town Band - Project sponsor Forbes Town Band. The town band hall is weatherboard and in need of repair, painting and upgrades which will encourage new members. Cost $46,467.
Forbes BMX track refurbishment - Project sponsor Forbes Shire Council. Refurbishments and upgrades to the BMX track for the local and surrounding communities to utilise and enjoy. Cost $40,000.
No place like home - Forbes Mens Shed - Project sponsor Forbes Mens Shed. Complete the move from under the grandstand at the Forbes Showground to Union Street allowing members access to a new facility. Cost $200,000.
Calarie Hall - Project Sponsor Calarie Recreation Reserve Trust. The project will help overcome WHS issues, bring the kitchen up to modern food handling standards and improve access for the elderly and disabled. Cost $98,394.
