The field of bowlers may have been somewhat down on numbers with only three rinks of pairs contested but the day proved fruitful for Peter Hocking, Tony Bratton, Peter Mackay and Lyall Strudwick when they claimed the jackpot prize.
Their winning margin was one and they were lucky enough to bring that number up on the raffle machine and get the cash. In a game that featured a number of multiple scoring shots across the 24 ends it was Peter and Lyall who finished on top 21 to 20 in a very tight encounter. In the other games John Cutler and Lindsay Willding teamed up to record a narrow 22 to 18 victory against Bob Grant and Glen Kearney. Bob and Glen were right in the game until the 11th end but dropped off the pace a little while John and Lindsay kept their score ticking over. Bob and Glen finished well to pick up shots in the latter stages but couldn't reel in the lead. Grant Lambert and Cliff Nelson had a mighty tussle against Fred Vogelsang and visiting bowler Misjo Brann (Fred's grandson). While Misjo and Fred skipped away early, Grant and Cliff caught them on the 14th end. Misjo and Fred regained the lead and looked to have the game in the bag before Grant and Cliff picked up four shots in the final two ends to even up the scores at 17 all.
