Feral Franky, who has developed into arguably the state's top sprinter under trainer Raymond Smith, won the Group 3 Flying Amy Classic at Albion Park before taking out the Group 1 Ladbrokes Vic Peters Classic at Wentworth Park on July 13.
He took out his Maturity heat in strong fashion last weekend despite drawing box seven, and after the favourable draw for the final he shapes as the one to beat.
"He has got the right draw in the final, all he has to do now is to use it,'' Smith told thedogs.com.au
Smith is a regular at the Dubbo's Dawson Park and the club has thrown its support behind the Forbes star by naming a race in Friday night's meeting after his leading sprinter.
The Good Luck Feral Franky Stakes (516m), for dogs with no more than two wins, is one of 10 races to be contested on Friday.
Smith doesn't have a chance in the race but Charmaine Roberts, who regularly spars with the Forbes trainer at Dawson Park, has two of the main hopes in Squiggle Keeping and Karen Keeping.
Squiggle Keeping has a win and a second from two career starts.
