"The stud is committed to breeding rams with an absolute focus on the profit drivers for their commercial clients," said co-principle Dane Rowley.
"Early maturity, heavy muscling, consistency and constitution are the primary breeding objectives, and are displayed in the 2019 sale rams.
"Springwaters rams are renowned for their high growth rates at an early age, making them ideally suited for sucker production, but maintain market flexibility ensuring producers have options at sale time. Again in 2019, the flock rams have been finished on grass, without grain supplementation, ensuring purchasers can be confident that the muscling and carcase shape in sale rams will be displayed in the progeny."
The 2019 sale draft features the first progeny of the stud's exciting home bred sire Pocock.
The Supreme Prime Lamb Exhibit of the 2017 Sydney Royal Easter Show, Pocock has passed on his muscling, structure and carcase attributes to his offspring.
"Pocock" continues to be widely used throughout the poll dorset breed for his unmatched phenotype and commercial qualities.
- Winning ways working
Starrs Limousins won Champion Lightweight Carcase at the 2019 Royal Easter show in only its second year entering the competition, proving its commercial approach to breeding is working.
Starrs Limousins was founded in 2009 by Tony Starr at "Kyme", Thuddungra in the South West Slopes. Foundation stock was sourced from Donna Valley, Birubi and Longreach Limousins.
"2019 also heralded our first Power and Performance bull sale in conjunction with Summit Livestock offering 30 performance tested bulls," said Tony.

"At the Birubi Dispersal sale we purchased the top price female Birubi Lady Luck whose type and performance will move our program forward. We will be collecting embryos in Spring 2019 from Lady Luck.
"At the 2018 Limousin National show and sale we secured The Senior Champion Cow from Progress Limousins and Reserve Junior Champion Female from Summit Livestock, adding quality new genetics to our growing herd. We currently have excellent young polled, Apricot and Black bulls available and a number of high quality females for sale with immediate delivery."
- The right rams
"After another tough start to the year we have been fortunate enough to have some grazing crops for the boys to eat," said Rowallan Poll Dorset Stud's principal Matt Reid.
The stud will be holding its annual on farm ram sale on Friday September 6.
"We again haven't had to supplementary feed our rams so when you show up on sale day what you see is the rams as they grow out naturally," Matt said.
"The boys are looking great again this year. We are extremely happy with how they have matured. This year we have 120 selected rams up for auction.
"Last year we commented on how great it was that lamb prices were sitting at the $8-$9 mark. This year we are seeing prices closer to $10 which shows that there is confidence in the market and that it is still extremely strong.
"It is a great time to be a lamb producer. Along with our stud we also run prime lambs so we understand the importance of having the right ram for the job. This is why we put such emphasis on sourcing the best genetics to breed from."
