SIGNED ON: New Tornadoes coach Sarah Veale.

Launceston Tornadoes unveiled Sarah Veale as the club's new head coach on Friday.

The appointment will coincide with club chairwoman Janie Finlay stepping down and in the role replaced by Lee Stewart.

Finlay will continue on the board in the newly created role of Tornadoes president.

Veale will return to the club after several coaching roles within Basketball Tasmania, including a strong focus on high performance and player management.

She is also a former member of the 1995 Tornadoes champion-winning side.

Outgoing coach Derrick Washington sent a swerve on Thursday over the coaching position.

He sent out a cryptic Instagram post in front of Melbourne Airport, adding: "God doesn't Call the Qualified, he Qualifies the Called" #hellomelair#Melbourne#Australia#Blessed
