Golfers are coming from as far afield as Western Australia and Queensland as well as the north and south coast of NSW. There is strong interest from metropolitan clubs as well as the Riverina and Central West.
Visitors golfers can expect to meet tough local competition: Forbes and district golfers have had a busy recent schedule and are on top of their game.
But they'll face solid competition from the regional visitors who have nominated.
Competition will take place across three grades in men's, plus juniors and over-50s, as well as ladies.
The course is in excellent condition, despite the drought, and over recent major tournaments the greens and surrounds have attracted praise from visitors.
On Saturday, the handicap section is sponsored by the Forbes Advocate who initiated the event following flood closures.
Sunday's individual is sponsored by Frank Spice Nissan who were one of the first sponsors to come on board as was the Forbes Services Memorial Club.
Michael Flannery, principal of Flannery's Pharmacy, is well connected with golf in Forbes and sponsors all ladies events on Sunday.
Mike Sutcliffe, secretary / treasurer of the Classic committee, said the support from sponsors has to be recognised as absolutely crucial to the success of the event.
Away from the course, Saturday evening is a highlight where 24 pairings of players with various handicaps will go under the hammer in the calcutta.
