Shane Mattiske, who grew up in Forbes, rallied the group in response to the continuing dry.
It was about last Christmas he started wondering what he could do to help, and The Drought Ride was born.
"We understand it's not the best of times, and we wanted to get out and spend some time and some money here," he said.
The cyclists are departing Molong on Saturday morning and will be heading via Manildra, Cudal and Eugowra to Forbes.
They expect to have lunch in Forbes before heading on to Grenfell where they'll have dinner and stay the night.
On Sunday they'll ride back to Molong via Gooloogong and Canowindra and most will stay Sunday night in the region as well.
"The idea is to get to as many communities as we can," Shane said.
The group has been fundraising in advance of their trip, with the aim of pouring those funds into each of the communities they're visiting.
Shane, a Red Bend graduate, now works in sports consulting with professional sports including rugby union and league.
