Yesterday Steve Betland said he was thrilled with the win, after so many recent close calls while heaping praise on the condition of the course.
"The whole layout was very good, fair for all players and a true set-up to suit players of all abilies," he said.
Visiting players, including those from interstate, continued to rate the greens as the best they have played in recent times.
The former Forbes club champion also said the tournament would not go ahead without the sponsors, who again have been outstanding while the committee contributed to the success.
While the field was slightly down on numbers to previous years, Steve Betland said the quality of players was equal to any of the past events.
In recent months, Steve Betland has been amongst the best players in country NSW, highlighted with his third in the country championships played at Bathurst a week earlier.
At one stage in the first round, he was six under par after only eight holes.
A week earlier, he was runner up in the Forbes Golf Club Championships so it was no surprise to see him enter the Classic as favourite.
Steve Betland was in the last group to finish and locals were banking on his success as early leaders in the clubhouse were Steve Beattie from Condobolin and Dwayne Gardner from Dubbo with equal par rounds of 72.
A play-off looked likely until the arrival of Forbes' big right-hander.
B Grade was dominated by Forbes players with the winner Brodie Hodges scoring 82 from Niel Duncan, 86.
Visitors enjoyed success in C Grade with Chris Paton from Nelson Bay one shot in front of Colin Mulligan from Cabramatta.
