After the completion of the three games it was only a single shot that separated first and second place.
With three wins and an aggregate of 31 shots it was Christian West and Bert Bayley who took out the day.
Runners up were the father and son pairing of Scott and Jarrod Andrews who were just edged out with three wins and an aggregate of 30 shots.
Third place went to David Brown and Shane Sharman with three wins and an aggregate of 21 shots.
This great day of bowls could not proceed without the generosity of, former local, Terry Green from Sainsbury Automotive, Gunn's Menswear, the Forbes Sport and Recreation Club and the Drabsch family.
Many thanks to all those sponsors, all the bowlers that participated, the club staff and volunteers who put in a huge effort to support the day.
Bentick Trophy: The first round of the Bentick Trophy is now complete so all winners and those who had a bye in the first round are urged to get their next games completed by the due date or risk being forfeited.
Scott Andrews has been on fire this year and his eight-shot handicap did not slow him down as he rounded up Cliff Nelson to win by five shots.
Ron Thurlow had to give Phil Moran four shots in their game and Phil was right in the game after 20 ends before the experience of Ron kicked in for him to score six shots to get home by two shots.
Peter Mackay was the runner-up in this year's club singles and this experience came in handy in his game against John Cutler.
John hasn't played a lot of singles matches but he produced his A Grade game to keep level with Peter until the 13th end.
In the championship ends it was Peter who was able to kick on and he was able to score a five-shot win.
John Baass is recently back from his trip to China but the break away from bowling certainly hasn't helped his form.
Lindy Cannon had a four-shot handicap advantage over John but didn't need it as she powered to a 12 shot win.
Wednesday bowls: Two gentlemen of Wednesday bowls were card draw winners last week after Geoff Coles and Barry Wright took down Trevor Curry and Kerry Dunstan 24-16 in a game over 18 ends after leading 10-7 at the break. Must point out it did get to 13-all after 12 ends before Geoff and Barry dominated late.
Twenty eight played last week. Grant Lambert again finished on top skipping for Paul Doust to win 21-14 over Peter Mackay and 'Gunna' Williams after 20 ends.
John Gorton and Brian Asimus handed out a lesson to Ray Drabsch and Wayne Burton winning 37-7 (a record?) over 20 ends.
Denny Byrnes and Barry Shine won a tight one 18-13 over Bill O'Connell and Peter White in a game lasting 20 ends.
Closer was the game between Barry White and Laurie Crouch with a 17-16 win over Noel Jolliffe and Ray Dunstan in another 20 end game.
John Baass and 'mayor of Eugowra' Jim Moloy had few problems winning 27-12 over John Ashcroft and Bill Looney in yet another 20 end game.
Showing experience were Don Craft and Ron Thurlow with a 23-9 win over Fred Vogelsang and Tony Bratton after 20 ends.
Nominate from 9.30am with roll-up from 10am.
Thursday: A very poor roll up last Thursday with only a game of triples being played.
Phil Moran, Lyall Strudwick and Peter Hocking were well on top after scoring seven shots on the 13th end in their game against Peter Mackay, Ron Thurlow and Lindsay Willding.
Unfortunately for Phil, Lyall and Hocko they couldn't capitalise on big pick-up and Lindsay and his team reeled them in to score a narrow 24 to 23 victory.
Sunday Bowls: With the Annual General Meeting being held last Sunday, bowling numbers were down to just 12 taking part.
Pam Stevens and Kerry Smith got off to a bad start dropping 5 shots on the first end in their game against Pat Hodson and Alison Cutcliffe and never recovered. Pat and Alison showed no mercy as they powered their way to an easy 33 to 10 victory.
Tara Lea Shaw teamed up with John Bentick in a close battle against Alan Affleck and Al Phillips. In the end it was the two Alans that got home with an 18 to 16 win.
The game between Don Hodson and John Cutler against Geoff Coles and Peter Greenhalgh came right down to the wire with Don and John to scoring 3 shots in the last two ends to secure a 15 all draw. The winning rink draw went to Pat Hodson and Alison Cutcliffe.
Christmas ham: Anyone who needs a ham for Christmas should make their way to the Forbes Sport and Recreation Club on Sunday 8th of December.
The Club is putting on a monster ham raffle with 30 delicious hams from the Flint Street Butchery up for grabs.
