Parkes score impressive 61 run victory over Cowra on Sunday 17/11/19 at Oliver Oval, Cowra.
Parkes 9/145 in 39 overs (Harry Jones 71, Harry Kennedy 20, Geordie Duncan 17, Ryan Dunford 14, Ellen Dolbel 7, Alex Nowlan 4/25 off 8 overs, Kayne Veney 3/22 off 8 overs, Archie McDonald 2/21 off 5.5 overs, Alex McFarland 0/6 off 4 overs) defeated Cowra 10/84 in 37 overs (Alex Nowlan 16, Hayden Whatman 15, Bailey Beale 14, Bailey Kennedy 13, Maddy Spence 5/11 off 8 overs, Zac Larkins 2/13 off 6 overs, Ryan Dunford 1/9 off 7 overs, Liam Freeman 1/13 off 4 overs, Harry Jones 0/8 off 4 overs, Harry Kennedy 0/9 off 4 overs, Richard Gaut 0/0 off 2 overs).
After recording a very close 4 run victory over Forbes on Sunday 10/11/19 the Parkes U/14's travelled to Cowra to record an emphatic 61 run win over the traditionally strong Cowra team.
Parkes players Harry Jones (71 runs with 8 fours off 95 balls) and Maddy Spence (5/11 off 8 overs with 4 maidens) spear headed the Parkes team to such a good victory.
Batting first, Parkes, with only 10 players totalled 9/145 off 39 overs as Geordie Duncan gave the team a good start by scoring a quick fire 17 runs with 2 fours off 26 balls. Harry Kennedy had a slow start before eventually being dismissed for 20 runs with 3 fours.
The inform Harry Jones backed up his determined 43 against Forbes to play a major role in giving Parkes U/14's a sizeable total as he top scored to record 71 runs. Harry Jones should be very proud of this innings as he defied some quality bowling from Cowra's Alex Nowlan (4/25) and Kayne Veney (3/22).
Ryan Dunford (14) and Ellen Dolbel (7) also scored useful runs for Parkes.
In reply Cowra were never able to get on top of a keen Parkes bowling attack. Ryan Dunford and Maddy Spence certainly applied plenty of pressure as they opened the bowling for Parkes.
Indeed Maddy Spence in taking 5/11 off 8 overs (including 4 maidens) demonstrated why she has been able to gain high representative honours in the game of cricket. Her excellent bowling figures are a just reward for her dedicated training routines.
Zac Larkins (2/13 off 6 overs) chimed in to take valuable wickets while Liam Freeman contributed to a run out as the rest of the Parkes bowlers all strived to maintain the pressure. Cowra were eventually all out for 84.
The Parkes U/14's can now look forward to their next game against Dubbo White in Parkes on 08/12/19.
