Former local Andrew Barnes and Fishing Australia's Rob Paxevanos described the world premiere of Total Native II as "absolutely amazing".
The film was released online at the same time it screened at Lions Park, and the pair are thrilled with the response both locally and further afield.
"Sales are already going gangbusters," Paxevanos said on Monday.
Barnes added they'd heard of one young person who watched the film twice Saturday morning and was heading out fishing in the afternoon.
For them, that was the best possible feedback: months ago they set out to capture the thrills of inland fishing after hearing that fishing visitation was down due to news of widespread drought.
They took seats in the crowd on Friday night and revelled in sharing the film with those seeing it for the first time.
The kids were riveted, anticipation of a bite was high and even the non-fishos commented on the stunning scenery and cinematography.
Barnes and Paxevanos thanked Forbes Shire Council for their support in hosting an exceptional premiere.
The weather also came to the party, Forbes was spared the high winds and dust that have plagued recent events for the occasion.
"It was an absolutely magical night," Paxevanos said.

So far, the film has been a success with purchases far and wide.
"People from Western Australia to New Zealand and Indonesia are all having a look at Forbes," Barnes said.
