Ms Williams went into the running for the top honours after winning the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year Award on September 12.
She was presented with the award at a ceremony hosted in Brisbane on Monday, November 18.
Ms Williams said it took her a little while to comprehend that she had won and that to be recognised as a top student was a great feeling.
While winning the national award was a great achievement, Ms Taylor said getting to know the other students nominated and hearing their stories was very inspiring.
"It was great to get the win, but the networks and connections I've made are more meaningful."
Ms Williams said she wants to use the award to promote the benefit of VET and Tafe courses and how they have improved her confidence as well as arrow down what she wanted to do in her career.
