Forbes' new Service NSW centre is more than just a centralised place for locals to access government services.

It also boasts a space for staff who previously would have been based in metropolitan areas.

When the office in Rankin Street opened before Christmas, media and council representatives were shown through a room set up with numerous remote workstations.

The availability of that room means State service roles can now be based in Forbes, the team explained.

That's great news for Forbes, Mayor Phyllis Miller said, who was particularly excited about the development.

There are already a couple of roles earmarked for the space in Forbes, but there is also potential for more roles to be based here in future.

It might not look like much, but this room is the opportunity for more people to work in Forbes in roles that traditionally would be based in metropolitan areas.
