Peter Grayson has won at all levels and was in that frame of mind to partner with Rob Priest in being card draw winners after accounting for Trevor Currey and Sid Morris 12-8 over 14 ends.
In a close match, 6-all after nine, a four on end 11 proved the difference.
Due to the heat some games ended earlier, one which went the distance saw Barry Wright and Alf Davies 21-13 winners over Kerry Dunstan and Tony Bratton after 20 ends.
They led 11-5 at 'oranges'.
Another game to go the distance resulted in two regular winners, Denny Byrnes and Grant Lambert on top 17-14 over Geoff Coles (who recorded the only resting toucher on the day) and Barry Shine over 18 ends.
After six Denny and Grant led 10-1 before it was 10-all at nine only to skip away late.
Ray Dunstan and Christian West won 14-9 against John 'Slippery' Ward who made welcome return to play well commenting his skip Peter Mackay was off his game slightly over a shorter game of 16 ends.
After eight it was 7-5 to the winners.
Another game over 16 ends had John Baass and Laurie Crouch winning 15-11 over Fred Vogelsang and John Kennedy leading 7-4 after eight.
A slightly shorter game of 14 ends had Warren Keep and Bruce Williams 20-10 winners over Jim Moloy and Paul Doust leading 12-6 half way through.
The hot day saw Bill O'Connell and John Gorton on top 13-9 over Bob Grant and Peter White in a game over only 11 ends.
They were made to work losing five on the first end then leading 9-7 after six courtesy five shots.
To the disappointment of many there was no in-house raffle however the regular Wednesday evening draw has continued with mixed results for yearly 'regular' Bev Chandler (member 630) not there January 1 missing out on $700 while last week John 'Gunna' Williams (member 220) missed out on $800 on January 8.
This week the Wednesday jackpot stood at $900. Remember if draw at 7pm you have to be in the club to collect.
