Sympathy is extended to the family of Valerie Joan Death (better known as Val) and formerly of Icely St Eugowra, on her passing on Sunday 19th January at Clancy Lodge, Wontama in Orange.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years Leo, children and spouses Trevor and Chris of Canberra, Rodney and Linda of Bundaberg, Diane and Peter Dickson of Tallwood, and Jeff and Julie De Ath of Lemon Tree Passage.
Also grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 25, her brother and sister-in-law Keith and Nancy Dixon, sister Mavis Murray and sister-in-law Mona Agustin.
Val was born at the CWA Hospital Eugowra 3rd July 1934, eldest daughter to William and Amy Dixon of 'Inglevale'.
Siblings are Frank (deceased) Fred (deceased) Stan (deceased) Keith (Eugowra), and Mavis Murray (Lake Macquarie).
Val was educated at Eulimore School until it closed in 1944, then did correspondence before completing her schooling at Eugowra Public School.
Her first job was as a telephonist for the PMG (telstra) at Eugowra.
After meeting Leo Oswald Death as a pen pal they were married on 12th June 1954.
They lived at Koorawatha until 1957 when they moved back to the Eugowra area working and living on a property named 'Galwary' and later moved to 22 Icely St where they raised four children Trevor, Rodney, Diane and Jeff.
Three years ago Val and Leo moved to Clancy Lodge at Wontama in Orange.
Val was a keen tennis player and golfer where she played at Eugowra and then Canowindra.
She also loved knitting and took much pleasure in being named the Scrabble Queen and Rummiking champion and many other board games when the grandchildren came to visit.
Val also played scrabble with a group of local ladies every Monday morning.
She was an active member of the Eugowra Hospital Auxiliary and other organisations in the community.
Following her graveside funeral service, conducted by Rev Joy Harries, Val was interred in the Anglican portion of the Eugowra Cemetery on 23rd January 2020 and will be sadly missed by all.
