Croquet
Golf Croquet Tuesday, January 28: Once again we had a great roll up of 34 players despite the hot weather We certainly are addicted to the game enjoying it despite the weather.
We had four winners of all three games Neville Spry, Bob Murray, Merv Langfield and Lyn Simmonds, J Liebich and R Pols had a great win 10/3 over D Scott J Ellis also L Simmonds, A Todd 11 over H Brown, R Burridge 2. N Spry, R Burridge 9 over C Liebich, M Spry 4. J Allegri 9 over T Thomson 4. B Murray, N Spry 9 over J Rubie, M Smith 4.
We also had 13 close games of 7/6 Some very good jump shots were played by those confident players it definitely helps to win the game.
Aussie Croquet Saturday, February 1: After a very warm night we had 24 members out on the courts and we still managed our three games before the heat set in again.
Our three game winners were Barry White and Colleen Liebich. Kevin Rubie partnered Colleen and the game looked all but lost when Bob Murray and Ray Burridge swept around the court with Kevin playing a great defender and keeping Bob from pegging out winning 14/13.
Jill Rubie and John Allegri also had a close game against Kevin Rubie and Robyn Pols 14/13. Robyn loves this game and enjoys getting rid of the oppositions ball it does take a good deal of concentration to place the balls in a position so as not to aid the opposition.

Veteran's Golf
Forty five veteran golfers from across the Lachlan Valley ventured to Condobolin to play the monthly 18 hole competition in forty five degree heat last Thursday which at the end of the day had an affect on scores in both grades contested.
One who did rise to the occasion was our own Ted Morgan who showed skill from tee to green to counter all thrown at him in scoring 41 stableford points winning A grade as well as posting the best round for the day.
Runner-up was Dubbo visitor Will Dargan, equally impressive in posting 40 points. Condobolin member Bob Matherson led B grade home with 38 points from Forbes legend Frank Hanns runner-up on 36 points.
Frank had a good day to be the only Forbes member to secure a 'burner' ball in nearest the pins. In the Geoff Coles/Miller shield as expected Condobolin was best with their four best individual scores totalling 112 points from Forbes 107, Parkes 102, West Wyalong 93. A disappointment for officials was the 'no show' from Cowra and Grenfell clubs.
Six balls were handed out in the ball sweep. A grade, Butch Taylor (Condo) 36 points, Rob Hill (Condo) 36, Phil Bishop (Pks) 35, Barrie Thoms (Condo) 35, Dale Stait (Pks) 35, Ian Myers (Condo) 33. B grade, Phil Thomas (Condo) 35, Allan Rice (Condo) 34, Tony Beasley (Condo) 33, Peter Rowe (Condo) 32, Allan Afflick (Pks) 32, Rob Fealy (Condo) 31.
Also mentioned at Condobolin was news that the West Wyalong club is in the midst of what to do with 12 greens after they were mistakenly treated with Round-Up instead of fertilizer. All are hoping the club will be back bigger and better in the not to distant future.
Golf for Forbes/Parkes vets will be 12 holes here in Forbes on Thursday with noms from 9.30am for a 10am shot gun start. With cooler weather predicted one of the best fields since the start of summer expected.
It was very tight at the top last Tuesday in the 12 hole social competition with a happy Barry Parker best scoring 32 points after a count-back with the ever reliable Ken Sanderson.
Tuesday golf again proved its popularity with 23 players enjoying a social round and everyone is welcome to play, gather at 9am for a 9.30am shot gun start.
Golfers are reminded to repair fairway divots and pitch marks on the greens. For all information on golf in Forbes phone the Pro Shop on 6851 1554.
