Thanks to funding from the NSW Government, the week-long celebration will feature a raft of activities and entertainment for the young at heart. Seniors in Forbes are invited to come together and give something new a go.
"We are thrilled to be able to offer this incredible range of free activities to seniors in Forbes," Cr Phyllis Miller OAM, Mayor of Forbes, said.
"Thanks to funding from the NSW Government we have been able to extend our usual program to include something for absolutely everyone. Whether you're into sport, arts, music, history or even fishing - we have something for you this Seniors Festival.".
Events begin on Sunday February 16th with the Seniors Variety Concert in the Forbes Town Hall at 2pm. Entry is a gold coin donation and all proceeds will be donated to the Forbes CWA for local drought relief.
The concert will feature some amazing entertainment from local performers including Martin Rein (organ and piano), Tapestry (acapella singing group), Greg Broderick (spoken word), Fourstrings Quartet (string quartet) and the Forbes College for Seniors Singers (choir).
The Festival continues with Chair Yoga with Cherie Stitt and Memories of People and Place on Monday with Rob Willis, Croquet and Tai Chi on Tuesday, Family History Group Open Day and Indoor Bowls on Wednesday, AquaFitness and Drawing on Thursday, Fishing on Friday and Old Time New Vogue Dancing on Saturday. More information on page 8.
The Festival concludes on Sunday 23rd February with the Seniors Social Sundowner at the Forbes Sports and Recreation Club from 4pm until 6pm - an opportunity to relax and enjoy a drink and some nibbles.
