A resident was woken by torches shining into their home early Friday morning.

A police spokesperson said the Forster Street resident was woken by the apparent attempted break-in, and reported that the would-be offenders ran off when they got up.

The attempt occurred about 4am and it's reported that the people were wearing hoodies.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them, either at Forbes police station on 6853 9999 or through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The incident follows two aggravated break and enters last week, including one where a resident was woken by a male intruder in the house.

In the other event, items were stolen from the house while the occupants slept.

A 75-year-old man was taken to hospital as a precaution after driving into a brick retaining wall.

Police said they were called to Oxford Street shortly before 2.30pm Friday.

Another local driver has been charged with driving with a mid-range blood alcohol level and will face court.

Police received a report of a Ford Territory driving erratically about 9.30pm last Thursday.

They stopped the vehicle in the Forbes cemetery and breath-tested him. His licence has been suspended.

A 31-year-old Forbes man will face court on a charge of driving while disqualified.

He was stopped by police in Farnell Street on Sunday afternoon and checks were carried out.
