The year was 1952. Robert Menzies was our Prime Minister, the first express trains ran between Adelaide and Melbourne and Marjorie Jackson won gold in the Women's 100 and 200 metre events at the Helsinki Olympics. Closer to home and Bathurst hosted the Australian Grand Prix, won by Doug Whiteford and in Parkes, Allan Blatch Snr founded a business that continues to thrive today.
A.A Blatch have been supplying and serving customers across the Central and Far West for almost 70 years. Founded by Allan Blatch Snr, his son Warren and wife Nancye took over the reins in 1979, and since 2013, Warren's son Allan (named after his grandfather), along with Allan's wife Susannah and their daughter Wilhelmina, have been the driving force behind the business.
There is a lot of family history spanning back over the past 68 years and Allan said that a strong work ethic and great team work have enabled the family business to trade for three generations. "We've stayed in business working together, evolving the business and adapting not only the business itself but the product range as well with changes to needs and industry trends".
A.A Blatch specialise in high quality and durable hard parts, tools and maintenance supplies and have a complete auto spare parts offering, along with their bearings and industrial supplies. Allan said there would always be the need for quality products and helpful customer service. "The world has got itself in a big hurry and some of the cheaper products you find are disposable or just not good enough quality," he said. "There will always be the call for premium parts and old fashioned service to match".
Like most regional areas, great customer service and advice is key for both customers and businesses alike. Allan said that service and support was one of the best parts of shopping locally. "If families and businesses shop locally it is not just that first business that benefits. Customers know they are getting good products and good advice," he said. "It also helps create a rich and constantly circulating economy, which the whole community can benefit from".
It's not just Parkes that can benefit from the products and services that A.A Blatch provides, with four courier runs to Forbes daily making it simple, fast and inexpensive to deal directly with the amazing staff. While customers can visit A.A Blatch's website to view their products and contact the team, Allan said there was nothing better than dropping in to be able to see and touch the parts you're after, along with getting some expert advice.
