Forbes Shire Council Mayor, Phyllis Miller said they are excited to see the Caltex Foodery and KFC open and operating and welcome them to the service centre.
"This is such a great location for this type of business, as we know how many vehicles pass this site every single day, and in particular the amount of trucks which travel the Newell Highway for business," she said.
Fiona Howard, Caltex Regional Manager in New South Wales, said despite COVID-19 and associated travel restrictions the Forbes site has been performing well with customers coming in from all parts of the community to rest and recharge.
"We were really pleased to be able to open this site for Forbes and look forward to continuing to build our relationship with the community," Ms Howard said.
"The service centre has an amazing facility which enables truckies, male and female, to launder their clothes, have a shower and a place they can rest up and refresh, before going on their long journey ahead. We love it," Mayor Miller said.
KFC franchisees Raj and Prashat Changela said Forbes has been great, with community members being very friendly and welcoming.
Prashat said the official opening was made slightly more challenging because of restrictions put in place due to Covid-19, but they are above expectations so far.
Raj said they would like to thank Forbes Shire Council for all of their support.
