Mayor Phyllis Miller expects to see increasing traffic as travellers break out of the cities for the mid-year school break - and that's good news.
"We welcome tourists back to our beautiful part of Australia," Mayor Miller said.
"Reports from our accommodation providers in Forbes are that numbers have been increasing already, and they are not just the grey nomads, but young families and couples as well."
As restrictions to limit the spread of COVID-19 are eased and allow visiting, the Mayor is appealing to everyone to remain vigilant about hygiene and physical distancing.
"Forbes has remained case-free to date and we hope to remain that way," Mayor Miller said.
"The retail sector in town has been severely impacted by the closures of COVID-19 and will welcome all new trade as it has been a very difficult last few months.
"We have been working with the Business Chamber to ensure retailers have all got their COVID Safe Plans in place to keep both staff and customers safe."
Forbes Council has partnered with ten other local government areas to put the "We want you back" campaign to air.
"The campaign shares stories on what to see and do as well what seasonal produce is available to try," Mayor Miller said.
"We can't wait to share our piece of NSW with everyone!"
Locals to feature are Kim and Wendy Muffet from Girragirra Retreat and Mel Sinclair from CenWest Tours.
Andrew Barnes, renowned videographer and a former Forbes and Eugowra local, was commissioned to capture the content including a series of video interviews, stills and beautiful imagery.
He's captured beautiful snapshots of Orange, Bathurst, Blayney, Oberon, Grenfell, Cowra, Eugowra, Parkes and as far west as Lake Cargelligo.
The $30,000 tourism campaign is a partnership between 11 Local Government Associations (LGA's), Orange360, Central NSW Joint Organisation and Destination Country and Outback, and targets the visiting friends and relatives market which makes up 35-40 per cent of travellers within and across the region.
The campaign will be launched across social media and digital channels and supported by a public relations and social media campaign.
"Forbes is so lucky to be in such a central location to all of these areas and with so many accommodation options available, from camping through to luxurious B&B's it makes sense to set up camp here," Mayor Miller said.
