Forbes Public School Parents and Citizens' Association have received a welcome boost for their school with the addition of five new laptops, made possible through an Inland Rail Sponsorships and Donations grant.

The donation means Forbes Public School, which continues to increase computer use in its education offering, can ensure students access the same learning opportunities as children in metropolitan areas, without being disadvantaged by distance or the cost of traveling to larger population centres.
Forbes Public School Principal Meg Staples said the donation was used to purchase new laptops for their library, which is an innovative and flexible learning space that is accessed by all students from Kindergarten through to Year 6.

"All our students will now be able to work online and utilise the wonderful flexible learning space the library has to offer," Ms Staples said.
"We are extremely grateful for the assistance from Inland Rail's Sponsorships and Donations program to purchase the laptops, which will help make learning relevant and engaging, and help to improve outcomes for students."
The Forbes Public School P&C has recently struggled to raise funds for vital learning tools such as laptops due to the drought-stricken status of the region, but with the help of the Sponsorship and Donations program, students will have increased support to help reach their full learning potential.
ARTC Inland Rail Director Engagement Environment and Property Rebecca Pickering said Community groups and volunteers are the lifeblood of our regions, and this vital funding enables community ambassadors to continue their essential work and embark on new endeavours to support those most in need.
"The Sponsorships and Donations program has already awarded more than $300,000 in grants to schools, volunteer groups and associations across the country, part of Inland Rail's commitment to communities where Australia's largest freight project is being built and operated," Ms Pickering said.
"With Inland Rail already delivering jobs confidence and local business uplift in communities along the rail corridor, the Sponsorships and Donations program aims to help the heart of our regional communities tick by supporting volunteers, sporting groups and students alike," Ms Pickering said.
Applications will soon be invited for round seven of the program, opening in August to eligible community groups for projects and activities which contribute to local and regional prosperity, well-being and sustainability.
