President of the Forbes Business Chamber, Marg Duggan reported that the beginning of 2019 had proven to be a very successful year with Ambassador Training held, Networking Nights included Inland Rail and a Volunteer Night.
"Taste On Templar was the main event presented by the Girls Day Out Committee for the year. Taste On Templar was put together to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House, to promote Forbes and to encourage the use of outdoor areas and local business participation," Mrs Duggan said.
"This event was very successful with over 200 attendees. Local businesses provided the dinner for the event and local entertainers played in the street."
After receiving funding through the Community Assistance Program the Chamber tackled the empty shop fronts by ensuring that windows were clean, posters were removed and the doorways and footpaths were cleaned.
"We have been pleased to work with the Youth Group and participate in their Youth Awards and the Lions Youth of the Year Awards," Mrs Duggan said.
The Forbes Christmas Promotion and Christmas Carnival was a huge and successful community event held in Rankin and Templar Streets.
"The Find It In Forbes Promotion offered $20,000 in the form of WLT Cards as prize money for the promotion," Mrs Duggan said.
"Thank you to the all businesses who volunteered, Forbes Youth Group and the Forbes Shire Council again."
This year the Chamber invested in large games that were made and donated by the Forbes Men's Shed and Abe Duggan Plumbing. The Chamber added to their collection of equipment by purchasing white tablecloths, glasses and other essential items that assist with events and activities.
The Chamber is forever grateful to Michael Robinson and Co for their generous sponsorship by providing a home for the Forbes Business Chamber bulky items. Thanks to Achesons Home Timber for their sponsorship of storage items for this area.
Over $500 000 went into our local community through the Why Leave Town program.
The year has been a hectic one with the onset of COVID-19 with many Chamber events and activities cancelled.
The Chamber elections saw the follow committee come forward for 2020/21: Marg Duggan President, Duke Jelbart Vice President, Aarron Acheson Junior Vice President, Kimberly Chudleigh Treasurer and Gabe McMilllan Secretary.
