Talented all-rounder in any number of sports John Cutler learnt well from his previous game against former state-title holder Lindsay Willding to put it all together to record a close win over the highly credited John 'Gunner' Williams.
Marker for the game, Cliff Nelson commented that both players were on top of their game with brilliant bowls at different times.
"It was a good game and close all the way, I even had to get a second card out it was that close," he said.

Former Forbes resident Jimmy McLuckie was home last week leaving his mark on Wednesday social lawn bowlers before an urgent return to Queensland due to Corona restrictions.
Jimmy teamed with Paul Doust to have a day on the green to he'd rather forget serving up a 19-4 win to Warren Keep and Cliff Nelson who at presentations were card draw winners.
In a shot game of only 14 ends Jimmy and Paul won the first three ends with singles then having to wait until end seven to finish their scoring.
A game of triples came down to the last end before a winner was decided with John Ashcroft, Fred Vogelsang and Mick Valentine up 15-14 over John Baass, Jim Moloy and Kerry Dunstan.
In another game over 14 ends the winners had to finish strong after being behind 7-11 after seven.
Three games of pairs finished the day for 22 the players on the green where games were slightly one sided.
Noel Jolliffe and Grant Lambert won 25-18 over Merv Langfield and Alf Davies in a game lasting 18 ends after leading 10-7 after nine.
Similarly Denny Byrnes and Trevor Curry had a 28-17 win over David Williams and Ray Dunstan after 18 ends leading 13-5 at 'oranges'.
In the final game Barry Donegan and Laurie Crouch were too strong from the start winning the first end of 18 before a final score of 24-13 over Geoff Coles and Tony Bratton.
Mick Valentine and Grant Lambert had success on the green and followed this up winning the in-club meat raffle for vouchers at Flint Street Butchery.
