The burns are being conducted ahead of bushfire danger period which commences on October 1.
Hazard reductions (HR) are being conducted in Bathurst, Dubbo, Forbes, Orange and the Blue Mountains during the next few days.

Bathurst
A HR is being conducted on private land off Timber Ridge Road east of Bathurst at Walang. The burn is a number of small areas with each one under one hectare in size and it will run until Saturday, September 12.
Dubbo
A 3.53 hectare HR will take place at the Taronga Western Plains Zoo bilby sanctuary on Thursday.
Forbes
A 32.8 hectare HR will be conducted in northern Forbes from September 15-25.
Orange
On Tuesday, September 15 two separate HRs will be undertaken at the corner of the Mitchell Highway and Millthorpe Road. They will be on private land and will be 6.9 and 0.6 hectares in size.
Blue Mountains
A 148 hectare HR will be conducted from Saturday until Monday near Bulls Camp, between Woodford and Linden. While a separate 4.9 hectare HR in the Blue Mountains will be completed on Thursday at Cascades Dam near Katoomba.
NSW RFS
If there is a hazard reduction burn planned for your area, take the following steps:
- Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes
- Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns
- Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage
- Remove washing from clotheslines
- Ensure pets have a protected area
- Vehicles must slow down, keep windows up, turn headlights on
- Sightseers must keep away from burns for their own safety
If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities if smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice
