Rotary Ipomoea's Sue-ann Nixon said locals were out enjoying everything Lions Park has to offer - and thanked the council for providing such a wonderful setting for families to enjoy.
"There were people walking the lake and browsing the market all morning," she said. "Families ordered coffee from the coffee stall and visited the market stalls."
There were 18 stalls and Mrs Nixon said the variety on offer was "amazing".
People were able to buy tomato plants, chickens, books, toys, knitted toys, pastel artworks, screen printed T-shirts, hand made soap, handmade earrings, antiques and vintage collectables, beautifully crafted wooden toys and kitchenwares, jewellery, even framed spiders and snake skeletons!
Market stall holders were very pleased to see the return of the market following the COVID restrictions break.
All expressed the desire to attend the markets in October, November and December.
Rotary Ipomoea doesn't usually have a December market because members are busy with annual Christmas tree festival, but this year sadly there won't be a festival due to COVID-19 restrictions.
A super Christmas themed market will be held instead on the second Saturday in December, Mrs Nixon said. Council has approved this market.
"Our Ipomoea members would like to thank the community for the considered social distancing that was obvious all morning," Mrs Nixon said.
"People when they were queuing at the Rotary breakfast van and coffee house were very sensible."
Their next market second Saturday in October.
Coming up this weekend is the Forbes Handicraft Centre market outside the store in Lachlan Street and the Forbes Farmers Markets on the fourth Saturday of the month.
