Forbes SES Controller Roc Walshaw said the members undertook the training as two-part courses - which include a flood boat operator and in-water rescue.
The SES members who undertook the flood boat operator training had to do two 25 metre swims. For one of the 25 metre section, the members had to swim in full uniform and with a life jacket, while they were able to complete the second 25 metre section in swimming gear.
The members who were undertaking the in-water rescue training had to complete a 200 metre swim, along with demonstrate floating ability and dog paddle.
Those who were doing the flood boat rescue course will travel to Lake Cargelligo in the near future to finish off the training.
Mr Walshaw said they are really thankful to the heated pool and Diane Decker for allowing them to use the pool for this training.
The Forbes branch of the SES have taken over road crash rescue for Eugowra along with their general duties and they are looking for more members to help them out.
You don't need to have any special skills to volunteer for the SES, with regular weekly training sessions for SES members.
The SES host these sessions on Wednesday evenings from 7pm at their branch located on the corner of School Road and Farnell Street.
Mr Walshaw said to join or find out more, give him a call on 0429 036 465, or attend one of their Wednesday training sessions or visit www.ses.nsw.gov.au/
